Spring is here in Ingonish, the snow is slowly melting.
We had a great winter North of Smokey with lots of Snow for downhill Skiing at Smokey Community Center (Ski Cape Smokey) up until April 7th, cross country, snowshoeing and tobogganing.

The Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge has five teams registered to date with ten more spots open. Registration recently opened and is well ahead of last year’s pace. The event is expected to be sold out in its 2nd year.

Hockey Day in Canada – A success in Ingonish
A beautiful sunny winter day and lots of kids provided the right conditions for a successful Hockey Day in Canada at Ingonish Community Rink. The event was hosted by Smokey Recreation Society, Cape Breton Highlands National Park and Scotiabank, Ingonish Beach. The event features games and activities along with a draw for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada jersey.
Middle Head Hiking Trail – Full of Surprises

3 Peaks Challenge – A Unique Experience
A new hiking event took place recently – the Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge. This challenge required teams of 4 members to hike 3 mountains in 12 hrs which also included 2.5 hrs driving time as well. The 3 Peaks were Franey, Sugar Loaf and Acadien.

Ingonish Triathlon – A Great Success
The 2010 Ingonish Triathlon, formerly Heart of the Highlands Triathlons was a great success this year. The largest ever field of competitors, good weather, amazing volunteers, great sponsors and partners including Cape Breton Highlands National Park and closing barbcue at Keltic Lodge made this a very special event.
